Bronzo smoked oak parquet — warm brown color oil finish, PerfektoWood Lithuania

Bronzo Smoked Oak Flooring — Warm Brown | Chevron, Herringbone & Boards

Bronzo is a warm, rich brown smoked engineered oak flooring — the warm counterpart to Nastro grey smoked oak in the PerfektoWood collection. Both use the same ammonia smoking process. What distinguishes Bronzo is its finish: a warm brown pigmented color oil applied over the smoked base that layers a rich amber-brown over the grey smoked tone of the wood.

The result is a two-stage finish — smoked depth from within the wood combined with warm brown richness from the color oil on the surface — that produces a floor with genuine complexity. It is the warm brown option in the smoked oak family: deeper and richer than honey or natural tones, warmer and more characterful than grey.

Colour character: Rich warm brown with amber undertones. The smoked base adds depth and grain definition within the wood; the brown color oil adds warmth and richness on the surface. Mid-to-dark tone — warmer than grey smoked, deeper than natural oak. Natural grain clearly visible. The colour shifts slightly with light: deeper brown in low light, more amber warmth in direct sunlight.

Pattern options: Bronzo is available in chevron parquet 45°, chevron parquet 60°, herringbone flooring 90° and straight board formats.

How Bronzo's two-stage finish works

Understanding this is important for correct specification and accurate client communication.

Stage 1 — Ammonia smoking: The oak boards are exposed to ammonia vapour in a controlled chamber. The ammonia reacts chemically with the wood's natural tannins, creating a permanent colour change throughout the wood fibre. This is the same process used for Nastro. The smoked base gives Bronzo its depth, grain definition and the complex, layered quality that makes it look richer than a simple surface-applied colour.

Stage 2 — Brown pigmented color oil: A warm brown pigmented oil is applied and UV cured over the smoked base. This oil adds the warm brown tone that gives Bronzo its characteristic colour. The pigment is in the oil layer — not in the wood itself.

What this means for refinishing: Sanding removes the brown pigmented oil layer. To restore Bronzo's warm brown, re-oil with the brown pigmented color oil after sanding. Correct refinishing product is essential for maintaining the Bronzo colour.

Bronzo vs Nastro — same smoking process, different oil finish

The practical comparison for specification:

  • Bronzo — smoked base + brown pigmented oil = warm brown. Sanding reveals grey smoked base. Must be re-oiled with brown pigmented oil to restore colour. Suits warm interior palettes.
  • Nastro — smoked base, grey tone. Smoked colour remains in the wood after sanding. Suits cool interior palettes.

Available grades

Bronzo is available in three grades. Full grading descriptions with photos are available on the Engineered Oak Parquet Grading page.

  • Select — consistent warm brown tone, minimal knots. Most even colour across boards — the preferred choice for formal and luxury interiors.
  • Classic — moderate grain variation with occasional small knots. Natural tannin differences between boards create subtle variation in how the smoked base interacts with the brown oil — adding depth.
  • Rustic — pronounced grain, knots and natural marks. Maximum character — every board is individual in how the two-stage finish reads. The richest visual result.

Frequently asked questions

How is Bronzo different from Nastro — both are smoked oak?

Same ammonia smoking process, different oil finish. Nastro's oil shows the smoked grey colour of the wood. Bronzo is finished with a warm brown pigmented color oil — brown colour is in the oil layer, sanding reveals the grey smoked base. Same wood treatment, different surface colour result.

What happens when Bronzo is sanded?

Sanding removes the brown pigmented oil layer ans some smoked wood. To restore the warm brown, re-oil with the brown pigmented color oil .

Why does Bronzo use both smoking and color oil?

The smoked base gives depth and complexity that a simple surface pigment cannot replicate — the ammonia enriches the grain structure throughout the wood. The brown color oil then works with this pre-treated surface to produce a multi-layered warm brown. The result is richer and more complex than a single-step pigmented finish.

What is the maintenance difference between Bronzo and Nastro?

Both require regular cleaning and periodic re-oiling for routine maintenance.

What interiors suit Bronzo best?

Warm material palettes — natural stone, brass, leather, dark wood. Traditional, transitional and mid-century modern styles. Dining rooms, studies, libraries, master bedrooms. Also works as a warm counterpoint in predominantly grey or concrete interiors.
