Assoluto is a deep, dark yellow smoked engineered oak flooring — one of the most intense and unconventional colour options in the PerfektoWood collection. The colour is achieved through ammonia smoking: the oak is exposed to ammonia vapour which reacts with the wood's natural tannins, producing a deep yellow tone that penetrates the wood and reads with genuine depth and character.
Assoluto occupies a distinct position in the smoked oak range. Where other smoked finishes produce grey or brown tones, Assoluto produces a concentrated dark yellow — saturated, warm and intense — that has no direct equivalent among the grey and white tones that dominate the current European flooring market. It is the choice for designers and clients who want a floor with strong visual identity and historical character rather than neutral versatility.
Colour character: Deep dark yellow with warm undertones — intense and saturated rather than pale or golden. The smoked colour sits within the wood, not on the surface, giving Assoluto a quality of depth that surface-applied colours cannot replicate. Natural oak grain is clearly visible beneath the dark yellow tone, adding organic variation and complexity. UV oil finish preserves the intensity of the colour and protects the surface.
Pattern options: Assoluto is available in chevron parquet 45°, chevron parquet 60°, herringbone flooring 90° and straight board formats.
Grey oak floors have been the default specification in European residential and hospitality interiors for more than a decade. The result is a generation of interiors that share the same cool, neutral floor tone — safe, versatile and, increasingly, predictable.
Assoluto is the direct alternative to this consensus. Dark yellow smoked oak has roots in European interior tradition — the deep, aged patina of historic parquet floors in French chateaux, Austrian palaces and English country houses was the result of centuries of natural yellowing and oxidation. Assoluto produces this quality deliberately and immediately, through ammonia smoking — delivering the visual weight and historical resonance of aged oak in a contemporary engineered format that is ready to install.
For designers working on interiors where character and atmosphere are the primary goals — rather than neutral adaptability — Assoluto offers a floor with genuine distinctiveness. It is not the right specification for every project, but for the projects where it is right, it is unlike anything else available in the market.
Assoluto's intensity requires a considered approach to the surrounding material palette. It performs best in interiors built around strong, deliberate colour and material choices rather than light, neutral schemes.
Wall colours that work with Assoluto: deep forest green, navy and midnight blue, warm terracotta and clay, rich burgundy, warm dark grey. The floor's dark yellow tone creates a natural, harmonious contrast with deep cool colours and a rich, layered quality with warm dark tones.
Materials that pair well: brass and bronze metalwork, dark-stained or black-painted joinery, aged leather, natural linen and wool, rough-cut stone and marble with warm veining. The dark yellow of Assoluto anchors warm, rich material combinations.
Interior styles: traditional and neo-classical residential interiors, mid-century modern schemes with warm material palettes, boutique hotel and restaurant spaces where atmosphere is the priority, studies and libraries where the floor contributes to a sense of depth and permanence.
Assoluto is available in three grades. Full grading descriptions with photos are available on the Engineered Oak Parquet Grading page.

Deep dark yellow — intense, saturated and warm. The ammonia smoking produces a concentrated yellow tone with dark undertones that sits within the wood, not on the surface. Natural grain clearly visible. Unlike any other colour in the PerfektoWood collection.
The European market has been dominated by grey and white oak tones for over a decade. Dark yellow smoked oak is a deliberate departure — it references the aged patina of historic European parquet floors and delivers that quality in a contemporary engineered format. It is specified by designers who want a floor with strong visual identity rather than neutral versatility.
Interiors with strong, deliberate material palettes — deep wall colours, brass, leather, dark joinery. Studies, libraries, dining rooms, boutique hospitality. Not the right choice for light or neutral schemes — Assoluto is at its best when the entire interior is built around it.
Sanding removes the UV oil layer and the dark yellow colour. To restore the Assoluto tone, re-oil with a matching dark yellow colour oil. Contact PerfektoWood to confirm the correct oil specification before refinishing.
Yes — Assoluto is available in sanded, brushed and sawn marks surface options. Sawn marks adds a raw, textured quality that works particularly well with Assoluto's intense dark yellow tone — the combination of colour depth and surface texture creates a floor with exceptional tactile and visual richness.
